Engines

The L9 engine is featured here, but HME offers the full spectrum on Cummins engines. Pushing the boundaries of how power is made, Cummins delivers the right technology for fire service applications at the right time. With horsepower ratings of 330 to 605 and torque ratings of 1000 to 1850, we have the Cummins power options to get you to and from the fire ground and perform while there.

Front Suspension

The STEERTEK NXT has configurable upper cross members to accommodate different engine and turbo needs and removable lower cross members enable easier access and serviceability. Alignment concentrics provide easy access to set camber/caster and toe-in. Brake pad replacement is simplified for multiple brake options that are all non-proprietary.

Safety System

Firefighters navigate enough risk; their fire apparatus shouldn’t add to the challenges. HME cab/chassis consists of a 13-point Safety System. Collision Mitigation and Collision Avoidance, Clean Cab, Ease of Use and Entry/Egress. We deliver on them all - to Protect Those That Protect Us.

Pump Modules

HME is pump agnostic. We will build whatever pump module you need with Hale, Waterous or Darley at the core. Off the shelf pump module options can also be specified – whatever aligns with your department's SOP, training or fleet configuration needs.

Body Design

When we discuss fasteners in a pre-construction meeting - and HME’s use of a bolting system that meets aircraft standards – the dialog is often light. When body repairs are needed due to a mishap, we hear – That’s Awesome.
