Pumper
Proud, poised and ready to work HME apparatus carry a tradition of service that goes back more than 90 years. Our pumpers are heavy duty and nimble, designed to maneuver through City Streets, Country Roads or through uncharted terrain, wherever their service is needed. Featuring rugged stainless steel bodies and HME Hydro-Technology® pumphouse systems their stately appearance is rivaled only by HME's commitment to the quality of components and workmanship provided with each apparatus.

Water tank capacities vary from 500 - 1600 gallons on our single axle units. Our unique bolted design eliminates the need for heavy, old-fashioned body mounts that needlessly add to the weight of other apparatus. The low maintenance virtues of brushed stainless steel make painting of the body unnecessary. Our bolted bodies are easy to repair and HME makes repair parts and panels easy to get. Everything is assigned a part number. Your apparatus is archived at HME to assure that parts are readily available. This all adds up to a cost-effective apparatus - now and in the future; something you can count on from HME! More evidence that when it comes to fire apparatus, HME is "Simply the Best!"

Mounted on any of the HME 1871 Series Custom Chassis, these sturdy apparatus offer an unmatched degree of performance and maneuverability in any situation. Engines from Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel and Cummins provide the power you need; HME engineering supports this with a steering cramp angle up to 52-degrees that can take you where you need to go, smoothly and promptly. Rear suspensions - HME offers our standard 27,000 lb. springs or HME Air-Ride to enhance performance and ride quality. Our large selection of chassis options gives you the ability to build your apparatus the way you want it - the way you need it.

In some cases a "Commercial" Pumper may be the order of the day. HME provides quality chassis from IHC, Freightliner and Kenworth. Ordered to strict HME criteria these fire apparatus provide the same features as those on HME Custom Chassis - and at a competitive price. HME goes further by installing the Class 1 Es-Key® electrical management system standard on the chassis too! The best in control and diagnostics, Es-Key® brings your HME Commercial Pumper to the head of the class in value. Available in two or four door models, popular chassis options have been made available to allow you choice. And we don't stockpile chassis; they're built specifically to your order. Again, when it comes to fire apparatus "we are the truck people."

"I just wanted to send you this note and tell you how pleased we are with the new addition to our Fire Department family. Last year we purchased a 109 foot Aerial Ladder from HME. This was the first new purchase for a vehicle of this type in the departments 50 year history. Since getting "Ladder-1" it has been both a source of pride as well as a valuable tool for protecting our community.

From the very beginning of the process, we knew a Quint type of unit would fit our needs. The 109 was more of a truck than we ever imagined we could afford. It has more ladder reach, more water on wheels and more pumping capacity than any other of the Quints in our area. Our selection began with visiting your website and finding Ladder-1 as a demo unit. Mr. Joe Merrill then met with us and showed off the vehicle to our crews and elected officials. After presenting this unique deal to our township board of trustees and showing them how it will serve the community well into the future, it was a unanimous vote to purchase the truck.

Ladder-1 is not our only HME. In 2001, we purchased an engine from HME which still runs first out on all fires and auto accidents. I must also compliment you on the service you provide to your owners. Anytime we have had a problem with either truck, just a phone call is all it took to remedy the problem.

My thanks to everyone who made this possible. And a special thanks to Joe Merrill. He was great to work with, and got all of our questions answered. The HME investment was a good one for our community. We are also proud to say that HME is built in Michigan! That carries a lot of weight, especially in this economy. When it comes time to look for our next piece of fire apparatus, you can be sure we will look to HME."
